Medier används som ett vapen för att censurera journalistik som är kritisk till demokraternas politik, enligt Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.
 
Houghton sade att den politiska klassen verkar ha glömt sitt syfte som är att företräda folket.
 "Runt om i världen är mediefrihet är under attack av de  människor som själva bör granskas grundligt, alltså politikerna själva," Herr Houghton sa.
 
"I Amerika har detta tagit formen av påtryckningar från demokraterna att tvinga Facebook att förbjuda nyheter och valanalyser som de ogillar".

Political leaders around the world are wielding social media companies as a weapon to censor journalism critical of their policies, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.
 
Mr Houghton said the political class seems to have forgotten its purpose is to represent the people.
 
“Around the world media freedoms are under attack by the very people who should be scrutinised most thoroughly, the politicians themselves,” Mr Houghton said.
 
“In America, this has taken the form of pressure from the Democrats to force Facebook to ban news stories and election analysis they dislike.
 
“And in Australia our politicians are just as outraged when anyone dares to disagree with them.”
